Applied Harp Curriculum, CSU East Bay
Objectives:
​
Applied Harp is the concentrated study of this instrument with each student's progress evaluated every quarter and the curriculum adjusted accordingly.
Objectives are based on a one-year program allowing the student time to prepare a solo recital reflecting that which has been learned.
The literature studied is progressive and repertory selected to allow for the fulfillment of short and long-term goals.

Skills:
​
Harp Technique: stable hand position, refining scale and triadic arpeggio patterns, agility of flat and rolled chords, ease of directional placing, and consistent dexterity of melodic and harmonic intervallic patterns.
​
Musicianship: phrasing, rhythm, overall expressiveness
​
Sight Reading: melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic patterning.
​
Memorization: – visual, aural, tactile, and analytical recall.
​
Solfege: melodic and harmonic ear training.
​
Practice Technique: articulation, tone quality, muscle motor skills, pedal coordination.
Repertory:
​
The level and number of works learned are dependent upon each student's needs, ability, and personal goals. Please refer to "Level Listings".
